Quarantaine Diaries

Because even a pandemic can be boring.

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit us in March 2020, I was living and working in Bangalore, India. A world famously strict lockdown was announced by the government in no time after the first news of a new virus, and just like most of us, I found myself spending the next four month in my apartment, seeking answers, personal space and entertainment.

To keep myself busy, I was sketching the small daily habits and coping mechanisms of the lockdown. Here is a selection of my favorite scenes.

Postcards from In-between Places

We are living in a world where traveling is easier than ever before. But how do we chose destinations, and where do we desire to go?

The Postcards from In-between Places is an art project, focusing on memorable spots that you won’t find in any guidebook. Because the world is amazing, and every place deserves to be captured at least once on a postcard.

The series consists of travel sketches of forgotten, left-out and underrated places I passed by during my travels, found fascinating, even though they don’t belong to the elite loop of the must-visit tourist attractions.

A Hundred New Experiences

Series of illustrations promoting the European Voluntary Service.

In the end of 2017 the Hungarian Youth National Agency of the Erasmus+ program asked me to prepare a set of illustrations what they can use for their annual booklet promoting the European Voluntary Service. They provided me ten interviews with former volunteers participating in the program, and I draw an illustration for each story.

Map of Ulcinj

Illustrated map for the Hostel Breshka.

The hostel hosts mainly backpackers, and as Ulcinj is on a cosspoint of main public transport lines between Albania and Montengro, most of the travelers stay just for a few days.

The aim by drawing the map was to give them suggestions what to do in the city in that short time.

Beautiful Journeys

Album cover and booklet illustration in attachment of the album of Márton Hó

The Beautiful Journeys is a music project by Márton Hó developed in Summer of 2013.

The album contains 10 songs about migration, homesick and return. It tells the story of a guy who decide to leave his country to try his luck. He goes to London but nothing develops as planned, so finally he leaves the decision to the listener: stay or go?

As part of the project I illustrated each and every song of the album. They came together as a booklet which functioned as the cover of the phisical disc.
